Teaching the Teachers Electromagnetism at the Physical Sciences Inquiry Academy These fifth-grade teachers are building electromagnetic ping pong ball launchers to demonstrate electromagnetism to their students. Utah MRSEC leads lessons and activities for teachers, as well as provides educational kits which supplement curriculum andcoordinate with Utah Core Standards. http://www.schools.utah.gov/core/ • Participants: • 18 teachers (17 female) from 9 schools, impacting 537 students: 261 female, 124 underrepresented-minority students in science and engineering. Education & Outreach Director, Dr. Debra Mascaro taught teachers some of the applications of electromagnetism and helped them build demonstrations for their classrooms.
