Background • Operation area concerns about OAM • OAM workshop was held on Oct • Requirements for IP Multicast Performance Monitoring • draft-bipi-mboned-ip-multicast-pm-requirement-02 • Functional requirements • Topology discovery • Performance measurements • Measurement session management • Measurement Result Reporting • Design considerations • Real traffic measurements • Scalability • Robustness • Security • Device flexibility • Extensibility • It was suggested at IETF77 to present the work also in IPPM and BMWG WGs

IPPM WG Feedback • We presented the requirement draft in IPPM on IETF78 • Lars Eggert commented that: Passive performance monitoring is useful but to generalize itis very hard since its application specific • Chairs started a poll on mailing list after IETF78 • “Multicast performance is indeed an important topic to be studied” • “Passive measurement could be interesting but we need some foundation before calling it “ • Chairs decided not the time to re-charter

  4. How to proceed? • We think Mboned is the right WG to discuss the requirement • Start a poll?
