  1. Know the class emergency plan. • If anything happens, the first thing you need to do is tell the teacher! • If something dangerous happens, we will walk outside into the hall to make sure everyone is safe.

  2. Science activities can be very fun, but… YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW THE RULES!

  3. Know the directions before you begin. Make sure that you know what to do before you do it. Ask any questions BEFORE you begin.

  4. Do not taste, eat, drink, or inhale anything we use in science. The materials that we use can be great to help us learn, but not good for our bodies.

  5. Keep your hands away from your face, eyes, and mouth. Do not touch your face when you have been touching anything for science – it could make you sick.

  6. Tie back that hair! Tie back long hair to prevent it from falling into the experiment.

  7. Pull up the sleeves, please. Be sure to roll up loose of long sleeves while working on an experiment.

  8. Always wear goggles when the teacher tells you to. Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from chemicals, heated materials, or things that might be able to shatter. If you are told to wear goggles during an activity, you must do so.

  9. Spills or Accidents Notify your teacher if any spills or accidents occur while you are working on your investigation.

  10. Clean up the mess on your desk. Keep your work area uncluttered. Make sure your lab station is clear of unnecessary items and only keep out what is necessary. Also, be sure to clean up your lab area at the conclusion of the lab period.

  11. Tell the teacher right away if you have an accident or injury. Even if it seems small, please let the teacher know if an accident or injury happens. Sometimes little things can turn into big things.

  12. Tell the teacher if you see something or someone being unsafe. If you see anything that could be hurt someone or become a bad situation in science, please let the teacher know. Safety is our #1 concern!

  13. Wash your hands after all science activities. To keep everyone healthy and safe, make sure you wash your hands after doing any science activity.
