Happening Now: Personnel Inventory • According to the 2011 USAF Almanac there: 332,200 Active Duty Members 216,774 Air Force Reserves 106,700 Air National Guard Members Total= est. 655,674 members (Source:http://www.airforce-magazine.com/MagazineArchive/Magazine%20Documents/2011/May%202011/0511facts_figs.pdf)

  6. Happening Now With the National Debt increasing each day, our older Aircraft’s getting older, the newer ones are getting technology advanced and our enemies are getting smarter. Adding smart communicational devices in the way we run things in Air Force may give us what we need for tomorrows crazy future.

  7. Activity • On a average day I want you to list out all the commmunication devices that save you time and money each day? • Then compare and contrast with the person next to you. • Then think about how it saves you in a year?

Enlisting the Ipads Advantages of adding Ipads • Faster and more efficient way of communicating with all personnel. • Better visual aid for training, maintenance and critical situations. • Save’s money overtime on paper usage. • Can be used with communicating between other Bases. • There can be thousands of Military online Apps developed to help all military personnel in there jobs.

  9. Enlisting the Ipads Advantages of adding Ipads Visually • Having a visual aid on how to fix aircraft maintenance problems can serve as great communication tool for training and refreshing members much faster then reading through multiple manuals.

  10. Activity Scenario: While on a deployment you are notified of two very important missions that must be accomplished. Well the first one goes as planned but on the way home some sort of maintenance happens in one of the engines and you have 6 hours to find the problem and fix it. What are the advantages of each when having an Ipad in this situation, an aircraft manual or 20 years experience engine specialist? And which one would you take to get the job done quicker and more efficient?

Knowing Our Future • According to Bureau Of Labor Statistics: “Watching TV was the leisure activity that occupied the most time (2.8 hours per day), accounting for about half of leisure time, on average, for those age 15 and over. “Individuals ages 15 to 19 read for an average of 7 minutes per weekend day while spending 1.2 hours playing games or using a computer for leisure. With a Society surrounded by social media and visual components Ipads could be a key factor in the future success in the Air Force.

Getting Ready For Our Future • To many times when Aircraft’s come back with maintenance issues it’s hard for Pilot’s to communicate exactly what went wrong. • Having a 3-D visual where they could pin-point the problem to our maintenance specialist on Ipads can save a lot of time, researching and communication between shops. Looking at more in depth images of the aircraft rather then flipping through a manual.

  13. Exercise You decided which one is more faster when it comes to maintenance issue during a critical situation? A B

  14. More Advantages • Pilots can use Skype as communication tool to show maintenance personnel a problem occurring during flight. • Weather updates & parking locations can be communicated a lot faster than over the radios.

  15. Disadvantages • They could become very cost effective with maintenance, updating and security. • The size they are now may have to be reduced to fit in military pant pockets for conveyance. • They would have to be able to work in very cold and very hot areas of the world.

  16. Big Disadvantage • They would have to be highly CLASSIFIED! • The damages to the Air Force could be huge if the information was hacked, stolen or into the wrong hands.

  17. Activity • Write out what types of security measurers Apple could put specially on the Ipads for military use only? • Then pass it to your neighbor and figure out a method if you can to hack that security measure or get some use out of there Ipad you have obtained?

Recap • Realize our future with planes & personnel in the Air Force. • Think about if Ipads could really make things better in the future with communication at your base. • Think about the Advantages & Disadvantages with your own people. • And remember to always be optimistic when it comes to stopping the enemy.
