Some Background. First-Year interest groups began with a pilot group of four FIGs in Fall 2001. The program has continued to grow. This fall there are 58 FIGs enrolling about 1,070 students, close to 20% of the freshman class.FIGs offer new students the opportunity to be part of unique learning c
