In this activity, students are prompted to imagine and design their own utopia, a place of ideal perfection. They are asked to identify the location of their utopia, outline the laws that would govern it, and specify the consequences for breaking these rules. Additionally, students must determine who would make and enforce these laws. The assignment also involves assessing the income comparison between Venezuela and the US, evaluating the advantages of Venezuela, analyzing the leadership success in Venezuela, and making predictions about the country's future. Informal language and abbreviations are encouraged, with a focus on summarizing key points and incorporating examples from the teacher. The lesson also covers the evolution of government, types of governments (anarchy, dictatorship, monarchy, oligarchy), and why most people throughout history have lived under some form of dictatorship. Finally, students engage with political cartoons and answer exit ticket questions on anarchy, monarchy, historical forms of government, and the advantages of such systems.
