Agenda sample for a picture in the divider slide • Introduction • Positioning • Decision finding • Business process comparison • 4.1. Product Safety • 4.2. Dangerous Goods • Regulatory content within SAP Best Practices for Chemicals
Introduction To perform compliant and reliable Product Safety and Dangerous Goods Management within your company, you have to consider several vital aspects: • You need reliable and up to date data about your used substances • Data from Listed Substances with all relevant regulatory information • Standardized phrases in all your target languages to print out documents • Up to date Safety Data Sheets to print out the correct substance information in the correct way • Data from UN Listed Substances for correct Dangerous Goods classification • Furthermore you need trained personnel that are responsible for your Product Safety and Dangerous Goods processes within the company.
Introduction On the other hand, Product Safety and Dangerous Goods Management are business processes which have very high potential for a BPO (= Business Process Outsourcing) approach: • You no longer need to care about substance data, data updates, regulatory updates and so on. • You do not have to have your own trained personnel for the complex area of substance data maintenance and substance classification.
Positioning This gives every customer the following choice: • Perform Product Safety and Dangerous Goods Management on premise. • Advantage: Everything is in your own hands • Disadvantage: High effort, high qualification needed • Perform Product Safety and Dangerous Goods Management as a service. • Advantage: Little effort, little local qualification needed • Disadvantage: Not self-sustaining, not in your own hands

Regulatory content withinSAP Best Practices for Chemicals • The previous slides gave an insight on how processes dealing with substances and substance data may finally live in a productive system. • But it is important to understand that the SAP Best Practices for Chemicals (BP-CH) template cannot provide a fully blown system regarding regulatory content. For all relevant EH&S content, BP-CH delivers extracts and examples. • Phrases • The phrase library shipped is an extract of the CED phrase library coming with the TechniData content package. It is limited to 2 languages (instead of the original 36 languages). • Regulatory substance data • Product Safety and Dangerous Goods data are shipped as examples and for limited regulatory areas only. • Report templates • The (Material) Safety Data Sheet does not exactly reflect today’s legislation. It is the example EU template delivered with the SAP EH&S standard.
