Vision A world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
Mission • Build simple, decent, and affordable houses. • Partner with community and volunteers. • Promote home ownership as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty. • Motto: “a hand up - not a handout".
Established locally in 1994. • It is the only affiliate located in Newfoundland and Labrador. • In St. John’s /Mount Pearl we have built 37 homes. • Last year built 2 in Labrador City • Have provide homes for 124 children
Our Model Home Ownership Program: • Family Qualification and Selection Process: • Need, Ability to Pay, Willingness to Partner • Financial and Employment History • References and Community Support • Families are required to contribute a minimum of 500 hours “sweat equity”. • Receive training and support.
Our Model Home Ownership Program: • Houses appraised at fair market value. • SOLD with no cash down payment. • Mortgages held interest-free by Habitat. • Payments geared to income.

2012 & Beyond • 4 More Homes to be completed by December • 2 in Paradise, NL • 2 in Labrador City, NL 2013 – Habitat NL returns to Thailand on its 2nd Global Village Build
2012 & Beyond • Developing a new Strategic Plan - focusing on Regional Expansion Overarching Priority 50 in 5 • By build year 2017 we will have moved 50 new families into homes.
Labrador West Build • 2011 saw the first non Avalon Peninsula build, with the Labrador West Housing & Homelessness Coalition partnering with the Adopt a Home program for the area.
