Graduation is a CEREMONY not a party or pep rally. • Wear comfortable shoes. • Guest seating will begin at 7:00 p.m. • All graduates must be in the “Field House” NO LATER THAN 6:15 p.m. • Tickets are required for all guests. Children 6 and older must have a ticket. You will receive 4 tickets with your cap and gown. • All graduates will be photographed by a professional three times as they receive their diplomas. • Remember to fill out the back of your LOM card to receive your proofs. NO ADDRESS NO PROOFS! • Clearance letters should start being given on 5/24. General Graduation Reminders
Prohibited Items by the Watsco Center • The following is a partial list of items that are prohibited at all Watsco Center events and is subject to change. Please contact Guest Services for specific policies/information. For the safety of our guests, the Watsco Center does not permit the following items into the Arena. • Weapons, pepper spray/mace, flares, fireworks • Food, beverage, alcohol, cans, bottles, flasks, coolers, drugs, illegal substances • Pamphlets, stickers, product samples • Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, helmets, chairs, beach balls • Laptop/Tablet computers, 2-way radios, laser pointers, flashlights • Tablet computers larger than 9.56 inches (243 mm) (H) x 7.47 inches (190 mm) (W) X 0.34 inches (8.8 mm) (D)
Prohibited Items by the Watsco Center • Balloons, permanent markers, spray paint • Noise making devices: air horns, drums, whistles • Cameras: no flash/professional photography, tripods, monopods or selfie sticks. • Bags, backpacks, briefcases, duffle bags larger than 14” x 14” x 6” • Signs/Flags/Banners/Posters: may not be larger than 11" x 17" or attached to a pole/stick • Masks are prohibited and may not be worn at any time while inside the arena. • *Management reserves the right to amend the above policy without notice depending on individual event restrictions. In addition, Management reserves the right to restrict any article not specifically listed above.
If you haven’t Ordered a Cap and Gown • 1. You will go to the JAF auditorium on May 24, 28, 29, and May 30 (before 10:00 am) once you have received the clearance letter to graduate from your counselor. The letter should be delivered via your 1st or 2nd period teacher. • 2. If you are cleared you will receive an authorization letter for Herff Jones giving you permission to pay for your cap and gown rental. You will also receive your tickets and other graduation information. • Herff Jones will not rent the gown to you unless you are cleared and have the authorization letter. • If you are not cleared, you will have to come back once you are cleared and have received your clearance letter. • 3. Once you have the authorization letter you will go to Herff Jones and rent your gown. • The cost is $65.00. You will pay Herff Jones directly. • All of the necessary information (i.e. address) is on the authorization letter you received Cap and Gown
Academy Completers • If you are an academy completer, you will have the option to purchase and academy stole via the OSP system for $17.00. • There is only one type of stole for all academy completers no matter what academy you are in. • Instructions for the OSP system are available. • Please make sure you are an academy completer and have met all of the requirements before you purchase the stole as there are no refunds.
Picking up your Cap and Gown To be eligible to pick up your cap and gown or your Herff Jones Authorization Letter, you must have the following: • Have received a “lime green” clearance letter from your counselor, • Have completed and turned in the “consent form” that was attached to the graduation rule letter, • Have completed and turned in the “prom promise,” and • Have completed the “Alumni Survey” (sent on remind and link on next slide)

Parking is no longer free. It is now done by a “Non-UM Graduation” parking permit, the PayByPhone app or Pay Stations. • “Non-UM Graduation” parking permit is available for purchase from April 15 through June 7 of 2019, at a cost of $6, for students and their guests. PayByPhone app or a Pay Station will be approximately $8.00 for the event. • Arrive early and allow at least 40 minutes for parking. • There is limited handicap parking. Please plan accordingly. • You will receive a flyer with your cap and gown to explain this process further. Transportation Parking
The processional march begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. If you are late you will lose your place in the entry march. • Please listen to your ushers, they know what they are doing!!! • Following the processional, Coral Gables JROTC will present the colors, the Pledge to the Flag will be recited. Boys will remove caps. All graduates remain standing and the National Anthem will be performed. As the song concludes, boys replace caps. ALL GRADUATES WILL BE CUED TO SIT after the colors have been posted and the color guard has left the stage. • Take diploma cover with left hand and shake with right hand. • Graduates remove their caps (male) and remain standing at the singing of the Alma Mater. In order to receive your diploma you will need to: 1. Deposit your gown in the boxes provided. 2. Proceed to the line with the first letter of your last name. 3. Show your name written inside your cap. Receiving Your Diploma
