Funding: Drop-Out Recovery Initiative • 2009 – Legislature / 1.5 million to community colleges (150,000 per college) • Plan – recover at least ¼ of those students dropping out from high school • 14,000 dropouts in MS per year • 2014 – Asking - 10,762,500 million
Professional Development • GED 2014 Prep • Regional Meetings – 1st Friday of the month • Lead –Teacher / Teams of 4 • Reading, Writing, Math, Data Management • ANI/STAR/TEAL • Strategy Instruction in subject area • Modeling – I Do, We Do, You Do • Teacher Homework – Review/Debrief - 30 minutes of the next session • New Teacher Competencies – July 2014
Feedback from Evaluations Great training. Students liked the interactive lesson. Hands-On practice was good. The training modeled how I can teach my students at all levels in one lesson. Activities were easy to implement in the classroom.
