Joint Action on Health Inequalities (2011-2013) Aim: to develop tools, expandknowledgeof what works, to engage key stakeholdersand to support regions • Establish network of (around 23) regions • Investigate barriers/opportunities to regional action on HI (case studies review) • Define recommendations for regions on Structural Funds use, and translate these into training workshop • Produce recommendations on how 2014-2020 SF programme could better enable action on SDH

8. Crossing Bridges (2011-2012) Aim: Developing practical tools to turn HiAP theory into practice, ready to be implemented by EU Member States. Two objectives: • Analyse existing practice (Education + Transport & Planning) and develop methodologies to implement HIAP • Assess capacity needs and build capacity of partners to take more of a leadership role in HiAP

The Gradient (2009-2012) Aim: to promote policies and interventions that effectively level the social gradient (HI) among children and families. • Develop a consensus-based European Policy Evaluation Framework to evaluate the impact on the health gradient • Investigate if there is a differential impact of policy measures on children and families of different socio-economic groups • Investigate if social capital at community level have a mediating or moderating effect on the relation between SES and the health of children. • Analyse and compare the impact of general vs. targeted policies for families and children
