Agenda New Lync Telephony Features Understanding the Telephony Estate PBX Integration and Replacement Options
New Telephony Features in Lync • Infrastructure • Survivable Branch Appliance • Call Admission Control • Media Bypass • Voice Features • Call Park • Improved Dial-in Conferencing • Improvements to Response Groups
Understanding the Telephony Estate • Telephony features used: • Group Pick Up • Call Park • Shared Lines • Multiple Lines • IVRs • Call Centres
How do these requirements translate to Lync? • Telephony features: • Group Pick Up = Team Ring • Call Park = Call Park • Shared Lines = Team Ring or Hunt Groups • Multiple Lines = Hunt Groups or Private Line • IVR = 3rd Party or Custom Development • Simple IVRs may be possible through Response Groups • Call Centres = 3rd Party • Simple Call Centres may be possible through Response Groups
Integrate or Replace? • For the majority of organisations some form of integration will be required: • To allow call routing for the migration • To allow the organisation to continue to use Call Centres, IVRs etc on the current PBX • For features required which are not available in Lync • Where the PBX needs to be maintained for functionality such as Call Centres: • Migrate all the possible users to Lync • PBX users can still use Lync functionality such as Dial-in Conferencing
