  2. Current Status I’m bored. Hey lets make our teenagers’ lives miserable. A legislation was passed in the state of Kansas in 2009. The law declare that starting on 2010, the legal unrestricted driving age will be raised from 16 to 17.

  3. My Idea • The driving age of Kansas should be lowered to the age of sixteen, as it once was. • 16 year olds drive just as well as older drivers. • Many problems will occur if 16 year olds can not drive. • There are many alternative ways to make the road safer.

  4. 16 year olds drive just as well as older drivers. • Driving is something based on experience not age. • In fact, teens should learn to make good choices in advance, and that’s where driving comes in.

  5. I drive safe!!! • Only some teens drive unsafe so, not all of them need to be punished. • The graduated drivers’ licensing program already gives the teens 50 hours of driving practice with an adult.

  6. Many problems will occur if 16 year olds can not drive. • Teens need to drive to work. • Teens need to do chores.

  7. Parents will be forced to drive their kids to dance, dates, and multiple other school activities. • Teens may resort to biking, but it is just too difficult to do that in the winter.

  8. There are many alternative ways to make the road safer. • Increase the amount of required supervised driving hours. • Drivers caught driving unsafe can have their license suspended for long periods of time.

  9. Opposing View • One out of every five sixteen year olds is estimated to have a crash in the first year. • 5000 of them will die in that year.

  10. Hey I might die. • 81% of deaths are passengers • Thirty-four billion dollars is spend each year to pay for car accidents (repair and medical attention).
