Our Volunteer Mentors Volunteers from the community include: • Ex Offenders • Addicts in recovery • Business men and women • Retired individuals • Life experiences and empathy to help others to help themselves
Mentoring is ..... Definition of Mentoring – The Home Office ‘A one-to-one, non-judgemental relationship in which an individual voluntarily gives time to support and encourage another. This relationship is typically developed at a time of transition in the mentee’s life and lasts for a significant and sustained period of time.’
Provide intensive practical support • Accompanying client to access relevant support • ▪ Assist in making necessary appointments with Job Seekers, Benefits, GP etc. • Help the client in setting their own goals and agreeing mutual committment. • Giving ongoing proactive, regular contact by phone or in person. • ▪ Challenge negative behaviours What do Mentors do?

Current Figures • 15 active Volunteer Mentors • 35 clients being mentored in the community • Volunteers: fundraiser, book keeper, Board of Trustees • Staff: Prison Liaison in HMP Dorchester, Guys Marsh, Portland and HMP Eastwood Park, Prison / Mentor Liaison, Trainer • Accommodation officer - GM
