  1. Odham Couplings and Industrial Magnets: The Essential Things You Should Know If you are associated with the mechanical engineering industry, you must know what Oldham couplings are all about. You can regard Oldham couplings are three-piece flexible shaft couplings. They connect driving and driven shafts in mechanical power transmission assemblies. They are similar to jaw couplings. In appearance, Oldham couplings comprise identical left- and right-hand slotted elements that sandwich a slider block between them. The Oldham design is used for machines in which shafts are misaligned in parallel. Typically, flexible shaft couplings counter the misalignment between connected shafts. They can also absorb shock. Uses The primary uses of Oldham couplings are for stepper-motor-driven positioning stages. They can absorb shocks from frequent start or stops and load reversals. An essential benefit of the couplings is allowing zero-backlash operation. Usually, Oldham couplings are a three-piece assembly comprising two lightweight aluminium or corrosion- resistant stainless steel hubs and a centre disk. The tenons on the hubs fit the slots in the disk with a slight press fit. It allows the coupling to operate with zero backlashes. Generally, Oldham couplings find uses in servo-driven systems that require precise motion control and low inertia, balanced design. Oldham couplings are an excellent choice when selected for the proper application. Related Terminologies

  2. The terminology of Oldham coupling involves the following: ●Bore size or diameter – It is the diameter of the coupling bore that fits the connecting shaft. Depending on the model, the bore sizes can be identical or different on each coupling side. ●Length – It is the end-to-end length of the coupling, extending from the two end faces of the coupling. ●Hub width – the width of the hub measured from the end face to the internal face of the tooth that joins the slider block. ●Hub material - It is the material of constructing the hub. ●Slider block material – It is the material of constructing the slider block. ●Coupling diameter – It is the overall diameter of the coupling. ●Maximum rated torque – It is the maximum coupling rating for peak torque rating. ●The lateral offset represents the maximum tolerable distance of shaft misalignment along the axial dimension that the coupling can accommodate. It is also called parallel misalignment, ●Angular offset – It is also called angular misalignment. And it shows the maximum angular deviation of shaft misalignment along the radial dimension that the coupling can hold. ●The axial offset represents the maximum axial deviation along the shaft axes that the coupling can accommodate. ●Shaft coupling fastening method – It is the way through which the coupling attaches to the drive or driven shaft. Industrial Magnets Likewise, industrial magnets are important things in the mechanical engineering industry. In addition, they can play significant roles in many industrial applications. Industrial magnets provide the benefit of sticking something or holding together two ends of a piece of metal-made things. You will find magnets in different sizes and shapes, such as small, large, long, and even in tape. You will find uses of magnets a broad affair. For example, you will see the usage of magnets in industrial uses, like construction sites, oil rigging, coal mining, etc. And, such magnets are different from household magnets. Industrial magnets are different from household magnets. And, you need to know what differentiates them.

  3. The metals – iron and nickel–are the basic materials for making most household magnets. And the metals have a unique quality that allows them to magnetize with a certain precision. But, the composition of industrial magnets is different from these metals. Their unique composition makes their strength is substantially more than that of household magnets. In addition to the higher strength, industrial magnets vary in shape, purpose, price, and composition. Conclusion If you purchase Oldham Couplings and Industrial Magnets, ensure that you choose a reputed supplier to get quality products.
