Yoga for Locals in Kauai Keli’s Yoga Hui primary instructor and owner is Kelika Ranke. Keli’s affinity for the practice of yoga began in 2004 after taking a Bikram yoga class. She knew she wanted to continue an in depth study in this modality of yoga. She soon became certified in Bikram yoga after experiencing the vast positive benefits practicing yoga had on her life daily After teaching Bikram yoga for 5 years, she became interested in the various other yoga traditions and began to further her studies with multiple workshops, classes, seminars & continuous self -study. Yoga was beginning to transform her life in a positive and renewed way. She then attended a 10-day silent Vipasana meditation course, gaining insight and deep respect for the affects of quieting the mind. She continues to use these practices as a piece of her yoga custom. Recently, she completed a teacher training with Solstice Yoga Center in Mexico, where she studied restorative alignment. This is a style of yoga that is centered on therapeutic alignment of asana. She is able to help her students maintain structural alignment while practicing yoga in her classes. Currently, she is teaching in a quiet studio in the Wailua Homesteads. Her goal is to create a space where the community can not only practice yoga in a supported, safe, inspiring environment, but can also experience a sense of friendship and community, as that plays a noteworthy role in personal health & happiness. Keli’s class is a warm Vinyasa Flow which focuses on alignment and some traditional yoga poses. Her classes are excellent for all level students as her gentle yet encouraging style promotes a sense of overall accomplishment. When we asked Keli about what drives and motivates her about teaching yoga she said, “My passion for yoga is a never ending well and the benefits reveal themselves constantly. The ability to personally create balance and harmony not only physically, but also emotionally & mentally guides me back to the mat day after day. With all of life’s ups and downs & ebbs and flows, finding balance and ease regardless of the situation is a necessity. The opportunity to introduce & share the practice with others is icing on the cake! “
