Exposition • Eragon is chosen by a Dragon which he names Saphira. • They met Brom a former rider and he helps train them. • They join the Varden and hope to stop the evil Galbatorix.
Rising Action • Eragon, Saphira, and Roran Travel to Helgrind to rescue Katrina. • Murtagh and his dragon attack the Varden just before Roran’s and Katrina’s wedding. • Eragon and Saphria return to Ellesméra to train. • Eragon finds out that Brom is his father. • Galbatorix’s source of power is the heart of hearts. • Seige of Feinster.
Climax • Eragon and Saphira are in Feinster fighting the new shade. • Eragon sees a vision that Murtagh and Oromis fight and Oromis dies. • Learn of the heart of hearts.
Falling Action • Eragon and Saphira barely escape with their lives. • Author ended the book after that to create anticipation for the fourth book.
