  8. Robert E Lee • Military genius • Defeated Northern armies for 2 ½ years without a loss • Kept the Southern army fighting for four years

  9. “Stonewall” Jackson • Another military genius • Religious nut • Accidentally killed by his own men at the Battle of Chancellorsville
