You also use ESTAR to tell where items are located: • Just say the item, • then the form of estar, • then the preposition, then the other item: • The pencil is on top of the desk. = • El lápiz estáencima del escritorio.
Fun fact: De +el = del ( when you have de and el next to each other, they combine to make DEL.
