Connecting Classrooms Little Ridge Community Primary School and REC Jui Lower, Sierra Leone
Our project work has begun: • Even though our original water harvester project had to be changed due to climate changes effecting the weather. • Mr D Tomlin, an ex civil engineer , visited our partner school in February alongside a group of teachers from Hastings, East Sussex. • He has been working alongside trusted members of the community to enable this project to develop.
Soil is deposited to enable excavators clear access to well.
Buckets are made from recycled materials to enable clearance of rubble.
It’s a long way down! How deep do you imagine they have dug so far?
Continuing to work together. • Safety is paramount!
Mr Mitchell meets Mr Kamara, who is the head teacher of REC Jui Lower.
Continuation of the project... • Our next steps are to continue fund raising for this much needed resource. • We have a film night planned for KS2 and a separate film night for KS1. • We will be holding a parents meeting to share our good news but also to involve them in the project. • Planning events with the support of the PSA of Little Ridge.
Staff, children and the local community of Jui would like to say... A massive thank you to everyone for their continued support.
