Resolution BRING JIANG ZEMIN TO JUSTICE In the Court of Conscience and Court of Law For Persecuting Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance WHEREAS Falun Gong is a peaceful self-improvement practice guided by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and WHEREAS former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin initiated the systematic persecution of Falun Gong and those who practice it, in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and China’s own constitution; and WHEREAS in order to “eliminate Falun Gong at all costs”, Jiang has mobilized the military, police, governmental, diplomatic, educational, and financial systems of the world’s largest nation to suppress the peaceful practice; and WHEREAS Jiang established the notorious “610” offices throughout China to oversee the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners through organized brainwashing, torture, and murder; and WHEREAS Jiang mobilized China’s state-run media to defame and incite hatred against Falun Gong in China; and WHEREAS Jiang’s persecution has resulted in the illegal arrests of hundreds of thousands, the torturing of tens of thousands, and the killing of thousands of innocent people – men, women, children, and the elderly – from all parts of China; and WHEREAS Jiang and his “610” offices have extended the persecution of Falun Gong overseas by (1) systematically pressuring all levels of government officials, universities, businesses, and public and private organizations to refrain from supporting Falun Gong, (2) exerting diplomatic pressure on foreign nations to abolish any efforts holding him accountable for his inhuman actions, and (3) spreading defamatory and fabricated propaganda to international and Chinese media; and WHEREAS Jiang diverted money from foreign investment to building labour camps and brainwashing centres, buying foreign media, and funding special police units, all for the purpose of persecuting Falun Gong and innocent people, thus making international businesses unknowingly support the persecution; and WHEREAS those who practice Falun Gong overseas cannot safely travel, do business, or visit relatives in China, and to date over 100 citizens of Western countries, including Canada, have been arbitrarily arrested, detained, forcefully deported, and sometimes beaten and tortured while visiting China; and WHEREAS we, citizens of the world in the twenty-first century, cherish human rights, the freedom of belief, the freedom of conscience, and the freedom to live; and WHEREAS Jiang’s persecution aims at removing the wish to live with Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance from people’s hearts and is thus a persecution of all of humanity; now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the undersigned condemn the human rights abuses committed by Jiang against Falun Gong practitioners since July 1999; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Jiang should be brought to justice and that the persecution of Falun Gong should cease immediately.
