About the Cruise… • 1995: 35,000 IT grads in the US • 2006: 25,000 IT grads in US • 2000 to 2004: 60% drop in the number of incoming U.S. undergrads planning to major in computer science BUT… • 2006: nearly 100,000 new IT jobs in the US • Not enough “supply” for the “demand” • Unemployment for IT related areas is 2.4 %, compared to overall unemployment at 4.5% (networkworld.com, 4/9/2007) • Fall 2006 Salary Survey: salaries up by 7.5% for IS majors to $47,182.
