How to Calculate Patient Meal Percentage Intake • Water, tea, coffee, and condiments (ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise) do not count • Butter counts with the bread • All other food items are given 1 point • All or ¾ of a particular food item=1 point • If the patient eats ½ of a food item=½ point • If the patient eats ≤¼ of a food item=0 points • Count the points eaten • Divide by the total items on the tray After viewing entire presentation, click here to begin quiz.

  4. Doing the Math Of the 5 items on the tray: • ¾ of potato wedges=1 • All of chicken=1 • All of banana=1 • ½ broccoli • ½ milk Do the math 1+1+1+½+½=4 4/5=80%
