  2. Extra Credit • Review the following Powerpoint presentation about the 1930’s Dust Bowl. Afterwards, write a journal entry from the perspective of a Dust Bowl survivor. Your diary entry can be from a farmer, a farmer’s wife, or the child of a farmer. Use the pictures and information to narrate your diary entry. Your diary entry must answer the following questions: • Where did you live during the Dust Bowl and where do you live now? • What was life like before the Dust Bowl? • What was life like after the Dust Bowl? • How has the Dust Bowl changed life for you and your family? • Your entry must be a minimum of three paragraphs. • Your entry should be written neatly on the provided worksheet and should be free of grammar and spelling errors.

  3. 1930's Dust Bowl "Dust Bowl" was a term born in the hard times from the people who lived in the drought-stricken region during the Great Depression. The decade was full of extremes: blizzards, tornadoes, floods, droughts, and dirt storms.

  8. Farmers lost all their crops

  9. Black Sunday April 14, 1935. The dust storm that turned day into night. Many believed the world was coming to an end.

  10. Many had to move and start a new life.

  11. Many families lost everythingand were left homeless.

  12. Farmers had to set up temporary housing while they rebuilt.
