Administration • Provide a well organized and documented syllabus, with • class schedule information • course description • instructor information • learning outcome statements • assignment & exam details • Be clear with yourself, TAs, and students about communication mechanisms & expectations • e-mail (and other electronic communication means) • course FAQ • office hours (online?) • Begin with the end in mind: build in assessments to provide • formative feedback to students about learning • evidence of attainment of learning outcomes • feedback about efficacy of course design

Next steps this afternoon • Meeting in “Breakout Rooms” with small groups of faculty and a consultant • Begin to consider “sweet spots” for course redesign • Administration: course “tweaks” where things could run more smoothly • Representation: revisit problematic content • Engagement: consider where student interest/motivation/self-regulation could be better • Expression/Assessment: could you provide students with other ways to demonstrate attainment of outcomes • Reconvene at 3 pm here for sharing/wrap-up
