  1. The Secret Garden By Frances H. Burnett Summarized By Julia E.

  2. Mystery, secrets and a new life. Mary Lennox is a queer, cross, and ugly little ten year old girl. When her parents died, she was forced to move to Yorkshire and live with her uncle, Mr. Craven, for the rest of her life. Once Mary arrives in Yorkshire a maid, Martha, explains to Mary about the secret Garden that no one has ever been in for ten years. She said Mr. Craven locked up the garden and buried the key after his wife died from a tree branch falling on her back in the secret garden. Now Mary is determined to locate the key and unlock the door. Will she find the key, unlock the garden be nice? Who knows, I guess you’ll have to read it. WARNING NEXT PARAGRAPH IS A SPOILIER!!!!! My most favorite part was when Mary discovers who has been crying the whole time. Mary has been hearing this crying, Martha, her maid, tells Mary it’s the nurse with a tooth ache but Mary doesn’t believe her. One time at twelve o’ clock midnight Mary heard the sound again. So she snuck out of bed, seized her candle and followed the sound. She traveled down many corridors and finally came to the noise. Mary slowly opened the door and saw a weeping little boy. At first she thought he was a ghost or she was dreaming and not knowing it, but he was real. It turns out the boy was the son of Mr. Craven!!! This was my favorite part be cause I to wondered what the noise really was because the maid didn’t sound so sure when she said it was the nurse with a tooth ache. I think the authors interpretation of the book was, if your mean to people they’re mean to you. But if your nice to people they’ll be nice to you. My evaluation of The Secret Garden was quite good. This book dragged me in. It NEVER became boring, there was action on every page! The book for me was a little long, but no t to long. I would recommend this book to readers in the ages between 9-13 depending on their readings skills. I also recommend this book to people who love long chapters and a long book.
