DO NOW ACTIVITY 10 meter rulers have been placed in the quadrant. Each ruler represents the north line from a labelled position. In groups you are now to plan a route to different points. You must write your starting location and the bearing to another point that you will travel to. You will then do the same from your new location. Your route must contain at most 4 stop points/locations.
DO NOW ACTIVITY Write your starting point on the A4 piece of paper. Write down the bearings from your journey (without the markers). Give your journey to another team. Can they now follow your tracks?
DO NOW ACTIVITY Bear has been dropped in the Lake district with only a compass and a pedometer (something that tells him how far he has walked) and wants to visit Stan Laurel’s birthplace in Ulverston having visited some old friends beforehand. Can you plot Bear's course around the Lake District using bearings? Credit to alutwyche
