B A R Enhanced Failsafe Protection • SP3080-3088 include Enhanced Failsafe • Failsafe protection if inputs either open or SHORTED • Protects if there is a termination resistor on the line • Protects if bus-driver is off (tri-state) or loses power • Protects if wires were pinched together, bridged or shorted • Most standard RS485 will only failsafe if the receiver inputs are OPEN • i.e. if the cable is unplugged, inputs floating • Advanced Failsafe guarantees logic 1 if A=B (shorted or open) Company Confidential

SP3080-3088 “1/8th Unit Load” • A standard RS-485 transceiver can drive enough signal to support up to 32 “unit loads” • SP3080-88 devices require only 1/8th the input-signal current of standard RS485 transceivers • Less loading equals more signal margin, better noise rejection • Run with eight times as many transceivers on a multi-drop bus • Support large networks of RS485-connected nodes • Eliminate costly repeaters • 256 maximum instead of 32 • Slew limited SP3080-SP3085 may eliminate line-termination • Possible to support HUNDREDSof nodes per network segment (1/8th) Company Confidential
