What is EMA2 AREAS+? • Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project selected under Call for Proposals EACEA/38/12, Lot 12 • A Partnership of 20 Universities (10 from South East Asia and 10 from Europe) and 4 Associates • Duration of the project: 4 years (from July 2013 to July 2017) • Mobility flows: • 183 students, researchers and staff grantees: 138 students and scholars from Asia to EU and 45 from EU to Asia. • Mobility from South East Asian Universities to EU Universities and viceversa • 5 levels of study: Undergraduate, Master, Doctorate, Post-doctorate, Staff • all academic fields • starting from 2014 • The project funds cover grantees expenses as follows: Subsistence allowance, Travel costs, Participation costs, Insurance Erasmus Mundus Action 2 2013 Lot 12 AREAS+ Coordinated by Politecnico di Torino

Aims of the project Enabling students students, researchers and staff from Asia and Europe to: • spend a mobility periodabroad (in Europe and in one of the Asian Countries involved) for the purpose of studying, teaching, training and research*; • benefit academically, linguistically and culturally from an academic mobility abroad • benefit both on a professional and personal level from this experience. *European nationals may carry out mobilities in the targeted Asian Countries. Asian nationals may carry out mobilities in Europe. Mobilities cannot take place between the European countries, nor between the targeted Asian Countries.   9. Target Groups Scholarships can be awarded to beneficiaries belonging to 3 Target Groups: Erasmus Mundus Action 2 2013 Lot 12 AREAS+ Coordinated by Politecnico di Torino

  10. Who falls under TG3? Examples of EM Programme Guide: • having a refugee status or asylum beneficiaries (international or according to the national legislation of one of the European recipient countries) • it can be proved that they have been the object of unjustified expulsion from university on racial, ethnic, religious, political, gender or sexual inclination • they belong to an indigenous population targeted by a specific national policy or IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) Other example of vulnerable groups are: • people belonging to national minorities • people who live in particularly remote/rural areas with difficult access to the public services especially education. • Victims of Natural Disasters - Earthquake / Landslides • Orphans Disadvantaged conditions such as economic status or physical disabilities are not conditions for belonging to a vulnerable group.   11. Mobility Levels • Undergraduate: TG1 students enrolled in undergraduate programs that have successfully completed at least one year of their studies. TG3 students who have obtained a secondary school diploma. • Master: TG1 students currently enrolled in a master programa one Partner University. TG2 and TG3 students who have finished their undergraduate studies, hold a degree granting access to master studies. • Doctorate: TG1 students or young researchers currently enrolled in a doctoral program at their home University. TG2 students or young researchers who have completed a master, hold a degree granting access to doctoral studies. • Post-doctorate: Young researchers holding a doctoral degree (TG1, TG2). • Staff: Academic staff or administrative staff working in the International Affairs Departments, regularly employed at one of the partner universities (TG1). The Scholarship Amounts Individual scholarships: Subsistence allowance, monthly amount to be transferred to grantees: • Undergraduate & Master 1.000 euro • Doctorate 1.500 euro • Post-doc 1.800 euro • Staff 2.500 euro Travel: the project will cover a round trip ticket per grantee from the Home to the Host Country within the limit established in the project budget Insurance: full coverage (health, travel, accident) for the duration of the mobility period No tuition or registration fees will be requested by the host universities: • Exchange students will continue paying their registration fees at their university of origin.   16. Application Process The available scholarships will be awarded to the best candidates with a fair and transparent selection process. All mobilities (first cohort) must start by the end ofDecember2014 according to the academic calendar of each Host University with two exceptions: • Full Undergraduate and Full Doctorate (34 months) must start no later than September 15th 2014 • Staff may start anytime during the project life (2014 – 2017) Erasmus Mundus Action 2 2013 Lot 12 AREAS+ Coordinated by Politecnico di Torino
