ROWAN EMS • Student ran and operated volunteer organization • Provides 911 EMS coverage to campus • Operates at numerous large events as well as major athletic games • Small organization of around 35 active members that responds to between 400-500 request for service each year • Call volume has increased in each of the past 5 years

OPERATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS • Executive Board: • Captain: Operations and Scheduling • 1st Lieutenant: Training • 2nd Lieutenant: Equipment • Treasurer: Finances • Secretary: Correspondence and record keeping • Engineer: Vehicle maintenance • Public Safety • Chief: Operations • Advisor • Student Government Association Advisor

  5. OPERATIONAL POSITIONS • Crew Chief • NJ EMT-Basic • Allowed to be in charge of shift and treat patients without supervision • Cleared Driver • Not required to be NJ EMT-Basic • Has gone through rigorous driver training program • Able to assist a crew chief in tasks such as back boarding, stretcher operation etc. • Third (Trainee) • CPR certified or NJ EMT-Basic • In training to become driver or crew chief

  6. DUTY CREWS • Weekly Duty Crews • Crews of three on call from 1800 to 0700 • Sunday through Thursday • Crews are assigned at the beginning of the semester and remain in place for duration • Weekend Duty Crews • Four 12 hour shifts starting 1800 Friday • A, B, C and D shift filled by crews of three in the same fashion as the weekly duty crew • Weekend shifts are filled by personnel by signing up on workspace website • Cleared members required to ride 4 shifts monthly

  7. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS • Utilize Rowan DPS security channel for 80% of radio communications • Rowan Public Safety has its own dispatch center • Can accept 911 calls as well as dispatch BLS • For ALS calls Gloucester County Communications is utilized for contact with paramedics • Underwood Paramedics are ALS providers

  8. TRAINING • Provide CPR emergency rescuer level and CEVO certifications to all members • Send on average 3 members to EMT class per semester • On average 2 CEU courses run by Cooper Hospital on campus per semester • Hold monthly in house training for membership • Joint organization training with Gloucester County EMS, other collegiate EMS organizations, Glassboro Fire, Rowan Security – Police, Athletic Trainers etc.. • Provide CPR training to campus organizations and basic first aid training to organizations as well

  9. MEETINGS • Monthly general membership meeting held the 7 PM second Sunday of every month • Required to hold monthly meeting by SGA • Monthly executive board meetings held 7 PM first Sunday of every month • Preparation for general meeting • Other meetings added as needed

STANDBYS • Rowan Div III Football Games • Rowan Div III Soccer Games • Rowan Women’s Div III Soccer Playoff Games • Rowan Rugby Games • Rowan Ice Hockey Games • NJ High School Football State Championships • Prof Stock Concert • Homecoming, Graduation and Move In • Hurricane Shelter Operations
