The effects of clean indoor air laws and smoke free environments on smoking cessation rates and amounts of cigarette consumption The Clean indoor Air laws include restricting smoking in various places such as schools, restaurants and private workplaces. Demonstrated in the findings were that people living in states with stronger Clean indoor air laws covering larger areas have better smoking related outcomes than otherwise similar individuals with less restrictive air policies(Fitchenburg,Glantz 2002) In a study involving employees of a hospital where smoking is prohibited vs. permitted demonstrated that workers in hospitals where smoking was prohibited were more successful in quitting than employees where smoking was permitted. Clean indoor air law policies are becoming increasingly popular and will continue to do so as they continue to be researched and instituted nationwide.
