Last Week • Discussed project bids and decided on the silverware rolling device.
Problem Statement • Rolling silverware is a tedious and time consuming task for many restaurants. • The goal of the project is to create a machine that will automatically roll the silverware in the napkin. • The machine will place the napkin, dispense the silverware, roll the napkin, and place the rolled silverware aside without use of an employee.
Problem Statement Cont. The device… • must be able to roll silverware in an effective manner • should be reasonably priced • should also require minimal attention • should be clean and safe
Design Partition There are four main problems that must be solved in order to develop a silverware rolling system. • Loading a single napkin into the device. • Feeding a knife, fork, and spoon onto the napkin. • Roll the utensils and napkin tight. • Eject the rolled silverware from the device so there is room to make the next roll of silverware.
