Who Went? • 27 bands performed • Most performers were blues musicians or deeply rooted in the blues. • Some musical highlights were: Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Santana, and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. • Over 400,000 fans gathered including students, hippies, and opponents of the Vietnam War.

Influences • Woodstock was a symbol of 1960s American counterculture. • It was a big introduction to rock music. • It influenced drugs, alcohol, and a lot of rock music.
Some performers from Woodstock are still performing and playing music today. 8 out of the 27 groups have had a group member die. Most of which died of a drug overdose.
