Accuracy Read familiar words automatically To identify unfamiliar words almost as quickly Approximately 95% of words known (95 out of 100)
Speed Fluency = about 100 WPM (words per minute) in 4th 200 WPM in 8th 250 = Adults
Prosody Ability to read expressively and with appropriate phrasing and intonation
Writing Fluency • Spell words automatically and write quickly so they can focus on developing ideas • Accuracy • Speed –gr. 4 - 10 wpm gr. 8 -13.5 • Legibility- neat and readable • Voice – choosing words that reflect the individuality of the reader
