Company History • Jamba Juice was founded in California in April 1990 by Kirk Perron, and incorporated in 1991 as Juice Club, Inc. • The name changed to Jamba Juice in 1995. • They entered into an operating agreement with Whole Foods in 1997 to sell only "natural“ smoothies. • Jamba Juice acquired Zuka Juice, Inc in 1999. • Entered the New York City market in 2004. • Agreed to be acquired by Services Acquisition Corp in 2006 for $265 million.

Store location • Over 640 locations operating in 21 states • 357 stores located in California, 15 in Oregon, 31 in Washington and New York has 19 • They are starting to gain a presence in areas with inclement weather (mostly on east coast) • Jamba Juice is also expanding franchises internationally

  4. Mission Statement We believe that food choices have a clear impact on personal well-being as well as the health of our communities and planet. Our philosophy is simple: what you put into your body feeds your spirit, gives you energy to do the things you love, and inspires a balanced life.

  5. Target market • Geared toward high school and college age people • 15-35 years old (mainly women) • People with a healthy active lifestyle • Anyone who enjoys a cold, healthy drink on a hot day

  7. Weaknesses Seasonal Business Expensive Criticized for being less healthy than advertised

  8. Opportunities • Expand beyond the United States • Southeast Asia has no winter, they can enjoy smoothies year around: e.g. Thailand, Laos, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. • Franchise stores cheap to acquire

  9. Threats • Lots of competition- Slurpees, smoothie stores • Store bought substitutes Odwalla, Tropicana, Ocean Spray • Ice Cream & Desert Stores Dairy Queen, Baskin Robins, Frozen Yogurt
