Topic One: Create a vision of the SUCCESSFUL MTM program five years from now • Without knowing where you are going, anywhere will do • John Kennedy’s “Man to the Moon” • Create a Winner’s Circle for your MTM • Concrete examples of what it will look like • Brain storm it; then drill down to 3 or 4

  6. Topic Two: Determine Your Starting Point • You have to know what you have to offer that is not available now. Have to know why others should join your effort. • Business calls it conducting a “Needs Assessment” • Conduct a survey of men, women, and the community. What do they want? Can you deliver it? • How are your doing this now? SWOT?

  7. Topic Three: Get the Right People On the Bus • You can’t do it alone. Having the right people to help is key to success. • MLK had his lieutenants and JFK. Generals have their staffs and the Pentagon. You have the councils. • Know who is available to help within and outside of the church. • Find common ground • Decide who you want to work with • Who is working with you?

Topic Four: Get the Right People to Think Right • Group talk creates a shared vision and commitment • Plan to meet and talk about the issues that you care about • Think backwards: • If you want a change in decision-making and what men do, then, increase their knowledge and awareness. • If you want increased knowledge and awareness, then conduct activities that logically lead to that outcome. • Results will not occur overnight or next week. Could take years. • Are you?

Topic Five: Get the Right People Who Think Right to Take Disciplined Action • Develop a plan of action. • Establish SMART goals • Identify objectives that lead to the goal • Develop a theory or strategy of obtaining the objective • Brainstorm programs to execute the strategy • Implement the activities that increase knowledge and awareness • Some actions you have to plan for and take • Branding • Growing • Retaining • Producing • How do you do these now? Discussion.

Topic Six: Get Annual Check-Ups • Monitor and evaluate constantly • Monitor • Are you conducting the planned activities? • Are the right people attending? • What opinions exist about the quality, relevance, and worthiness of the activities? • Evaluate • Is knowledge and awareness increasing? • Are different decisions being made? • Are numbers increasing? • What is the morale of the membership? • How are you monitoring and evaluating?
