  4. WE Served… When We Wanted To Feast • We must lay aside selfishness to meet the needs of each other • 1 Cor. 10:24

  5. We Listened…When We Wanted To Talk • True feelings must be both felt and expressed • A happy marriage involves a two way conversation • Ecl. 3:7 • Js. 1:19

  6. We Submitted… When We Wanted To Reign • Too many enter into marriage with the attitude, “I want to reign—I want to have my way.” • Eph. 5:23 • Eph. 5:25 • Eph. 5:28

  7. We Forgave…When We Wanted To Remember • One of the most beautiful pictures in the Bible is forgiveness. • In the close relationship of marriage it is often difficult to forgive • We must forgive others as we want God to forgive us • Jer. 31:34

  8. We Stayed...When We Wanted To Leave • Marriage is to be honored “So long as you both shall live” • Marriage is to endure “for better or for worse” • Too often, when the “for worse” comes the marriage is over

  9. Conclusion • The secret to these six points is unselfishness • “When a married couple gives all they have to please God and each other, happiness can be found”
