  1. Welcome to Tighe’s reading world

  2. Tighe’s Favorite Books A page-turner about four children who have to go through a series of tests to join The Mysterious Benedict Society. If they succeed, they will be able to defeat evil and save the world. It's full of suspense and action. This 500 page graphic novel is about an orphan boy who is a clock keeper part time and a thief. He lives in a Paris train station and goes on a quest to stay away from jail. Hugo fixes a mechanical man that has a drawing from his dead father. A quick read about a brother and sister who go on a quest to find their family’s lost fortune. They could get world domination if they solve the 39 clues.

  3. Tighe’s favorite authors Rick Riordan Brian Selznick Elisabetta Dami This is one of my favorite authors because he wrote a few of my favorite books like the first and seventh book of the 39 clues. His stories always have a lot of action and suspense. The age group for his reader is about ten to eleven. [But goes by Geronimo Stilton in her books] Although he’s a mouse, Stilton really knows how to play with words and describe the adventures he goes on. It was one of the first chapter books I ever read. I recommend the Stilton series to all early readers. I really like how he puts a lot of details in his stories. I also like the pictures – it helps shorten the read of a 500 page book. You could read Hugo Cabret 100,000,000 times and never get bored. He describes and draws every moment crystal clear.

  4. Favorite Characters In the book Junebug, the main character Junebug is a very hopeful character. His dream is to move out of the projects in New York City and be able to see the horizon. He sticks with his ideas and never turns on the bad side. I like Dan Cahill from the series The 39 Clues. He and his sister, Amy try to uncover a family mystery. I like him because he might not be the smartest one, but he has a photographic memory. He is never afraid and always thinking on the bright side. Joe Hardy is one of the main characters in The Hardy Boys series. He risks his life every day trying to catch criminals. For him, danger is fun and he likes working with his brother Fred.

  5. Favorite types of books ADVENTURE Where you go on a great trip and succeed. I love when I go to exotic places with the characters. HUMOR A funny book will make you laugh out loud. It’s a great way to pick you up when you’re blue. MYSTERY Stories that make you have nightmares about robbers. I love getting worried when you read it because you feel like the main character. SPORTS Just about any sports book is on my list. It should be action-packed and about a sport I love like hockey, baseball, lacrosse, tennis…. HISTORICAL BIOGRAPHY Reading about people who made a difference is very interesting. It’s great to learn personal facts about great people that we hope to live up to. Some of my favorites are Jaques Cousteau, Harry Houdini, Ben Franklin and many more.

  6. Getting Down to Reading Every night I read in my bed before I go to sleep. I read for 45 minutes to an hour. I stack two pillows behind my head and turn on a bright light and start reading. Reading relaxes me before I go to bed. I love getting in the reading zone. Often I plan on reading only for 30 minutes, but end up reading for hours. EAT SLEEP READ
