  1. Artificial Intelligence Solutions Within the Automotive Industry Francisco Illanes, Iain Letourneau Nathan Hupman& Max Jackman

  2. Why AI for car safety is important. http://hyperradiant.net/car_crash_fail.jpg

  3. Introduction • - Advances in Collision Detection • - Parking Assistance Technology • AI-Assisted Controls • Conclusion The subject of research is Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the automotive industry. Many advances have been made to make vehicles “smarter” and safer

  4. Definiton • LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging): A mixture of radar and laser technology, which measures scattered light to find range or other information on a distant target through the use of laser pulses. You will often see police officers using lidar equipment to track vehicle’s speed. • GFLOP: A unit for measuring calculations per second, 1 GFLOP being equal to 1 billion calculations per second. • GHz: Measurement of speed in cycles per second, in this case applied to measure the speed of a computer’s processor. 1 GHz is equal to 1 billion cycles per second.

  5. Discussion of Advances in Collision Detection • Using Sensors for Hazard Detection http://www.smartmotorist.com/motorist-news/collision-free-vehicle-by-advanced-driving-safety-system.html
