2. I was a normal kid with a normal family. I lived in a nice, small, safe town named Melilla. The town had never had any murders or anything out of the ordinary ever happen in it. My parents are John and Penelope. My name you ask? My name’s Joey. I was twelve years old and went to Saint Si-Si Public School. Everybody knew each other in the town. We used to be well known because we helped people around town and gave donations in times of need. We did so many things to aid our town and that’s why everybody liked us. Life seemed perfect to me. I loved it, and didn’t want to be anywhere else. But then it happened…

3. That’s when my whole life changed. That’s when I, for the first time actually, truly…became afraid of my home town. I was at school in math class as usual, when I got pulled out of it for a second. The person who pulled me out looked sad and then he said the sixteen words that made me feel like I have never felt before “Your parents were murdered and were found in the forest this morning by a young couple”. I dropped to the ground. I felt a wet liquid going down my face. I had not felt it in so long. It was a tear. I felt more and more tears running down my face. I was hurting so bad inside and out. I just wanted to leave. I got taken home and there were police all over my house. I went to get a drink of water when I heard a tapping. I looked around and then I noticed it was coming from the window. I went over to check out what it was. I gasped. There was a scary-looking person. He had a long nose with the biggest mole I had ever seen before. He had long green hair with mold growing on his face! I tried to scream but before I could he said “I’m here to warn you that you are in grave danger.” “What do you mean?” I asked him. “There are people coming to kill you and they will do the same to you as they did to your parents! You must run right now as far away as you can!” He responded. Not knowing what I was doing I started to run. He started yelling happily “Run child run, run as fast as you can and don’t stop until you can feel that you are safe and I know you will soon feel it.”

4. I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t have the feeling that the weird man was talking about, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to lay down and sleep. I finally did and just crashed onto the ground too tired to worry about anything else. I was awoken by a sound. The sound of someone talking. That’s when I realized I was being followed. I didn’t know if it was police or the people that the creepy person was warning me to run, but I took the chance. I got up and said “Can you please help me?” When I’d had a full look at the person, I knew it wasn’t the cops, and wasn’t anybody that I knew from town. That’s when I knew it was the murderer. He laughed in an evil way. “Haha. You actually think somebody will come to save, you little twerp?” He tried grabbing me, and I kept on resisting him, but he was too strong. I bit him, and he got so angry he smashed me on the head with the handle of his knife. I went unconscious. I saw my mother.... and father. We were happy together at a park playing in the grass having fun, but then it came. The giant. He came and snapped them in half, and then it went black… Someone walked up to me with a knife, brought it up as high as he could and started to bring it down, fast......At that terrible moment I regained consciousness.

5. When I opened my eyes I tried to scratch my nose but I couldn’t move. I noticed I was tied to a pole and that I was somewhere dark. I started yelling out “Anybody there, someone please help me! I’m really hungry and thirsty.” I stopped. I looked all around, but no one was there. Then it happened. I heard footsteps. They were coming towards me. I kept looking around everywhere but there was nothing, no one and no thing, but the pole and I. I was scared and just wanted to go home. I constantly asked myself, why me, why now, why is this happening?! And that’s when I saw her. A girl my age coming with food and water for me. I asked her “Who are you, why are you helping me? Why am I here?” She told me, “My name is Prim and I have been stuck here for 6 years, half my life. You are here because your parents didn’t want participate in the bank robbery that L.O.E.P. (league of evil people) were planning. L.O.E.P. are about 20 people and the leader Eustace. The leader got mad and killed your parents, and now they want to kill you because they believe that you know what they were planning. Even if they don’t kill you they will make you a slave like I am.” That’s when the light bulb popped in my head. I asked her “Do they trust you enough to give you their keys for this place?” “Yes. Why?” she answered. I told her to give me the keys and to untie me. She said ok and she did but she asked why. I answered “Because today we’re going to escape.” “What!? Are you crazy?” She said. I reassured her, saying “Just trust me; Prim, please. I can’t do this without you.” She nodded and that’s when our journey began.

6. We found a door and unlocked it. It took us straight to the outside. We started to run, when we heard something. A sound like a bell, and we realized we had set off an alarm. We ran even faster and faster and then I told her: “Stop, we must stop!” She asked why. I told her “Look at the tree a few metres away. There is someone there, someone I have seen before, someone who has been following me this whole way and who wacked me on the head. I’m sure of it.” I walked over to see my followers face. On the way, I found on the ground a knife and I hid it in my pant pocket. “What a coincidence” I said. When I saw the face, I gasped….It was that ghoulish, gruesome, hair-raising, horrible, dreadful person that I met over in Melilla at my house in the window!!

7. “Hello, and nice to see you again.” He said “Hahaha. You are a stupid boy. You actually believed me when I told you to run. You believed a stranger, a weirdo! You make me laugh, haha. You would have been safer over at your house surrounded by all the police.” I was shocked and screamed at him, “I trusted you, and you were lying to me the whole time?” He replied, “This is life not a dreamland. You’re going to have to get used to it you little imbecile! Oh, and by the way, my name’s Ralph.” And that’s when the slap came! He slapped me as hard as he could. I got mad, but before I could do anything he said “Look over there.” He pointed. When I turned around I saw Prim. She was being grabbed by horrifying, beastly looking people. As I put my first foot out to run, I was grabbed by Ralph. He tied my hands and Prim’s and took us into the mutant forest where all the mutated poisonous animals were. He left us there. Luckily I still had the knife that I’d put in my pocket! I cut the rope off my hands first and then off Prim’s. We ran out of the nightmarish forest and kept on running and running, until we hit the edge. There was an edge and we didn’t even know. We saw people coming. We didn’t know what to do. “You should have stayed in the dark cell and I shouldn’t have listened to you. Now we’re going to die” said Prim bawling her eyes out. “No.” I said firmly. “Do you still trust me, Prim?” She nodded. I told her to hold on to me as if she was giving me a hug. I said “One, two, and three!” Not sure what was going to happen, I jumped.

8. We landed in water, safely. The river was very, very deep so we didn’t hit anything. We started swimming. We swam until we could climb onto green grass. I asked Prim, “Are you ok?” She answered “Yes.” and I smiled. We walked for a while. Finally when we got to the next river we took a break for a little while. We heard sirens. We looked around and saw lights flashing. We ran towards them and realized we were saved. We had found the police! It had turned out that the police had been looking for me for a while. Happy, once again, we went home, and Prim and I promised to stay friends forever. THE END

9. Prim’s Perspective When I first saw Joey I could only hope that he wasn’t going to get hurt. I hoped with all my heart that their would be a beating, a killing, or another abuse to another kid. I really wanted to help him but I couldn’t, I wouldn‘t. I had to obey my master. The best I could do without suffering the consequences was to bring him food and water. When he told me to give him the keys that I had for the hideout of L.O.E.P. I didn't want to, but I wanted to help him so I gave him the keys and untied him because I know the ropes extremely without a doubt hurt. “Because today we’re going to escape.” when he had said those words I thought if I go I’m going to die no doubt, but he said he needed me and that entirely changed my mind. Tied in the chair, I wanted to yell. I wanted to blame him for all that happened!!! I knew I couldn't because it was partially my fault. If I had not gone with him this probably wouldn`t have happened!! I was so happy he had got himself out and soon he was going to get me out. We would soon be free from running, hiding, fighting, getting caught!! When he jumped off the cliff I thought I would be screaming and scared but really, those few seconds in the air from me jumping off the cliff with him made me feel that for once I am free. Free from everything. When the police found us I was happy, but worried. I was worried that I would have to go to an orphanage or foster home and never see Joey again. When I knew I was staying with him I was probably the most happiest girl in the world. From then on I knew we would be friends forever and that I could always trust him and it’s true till this day.

10. Joey’s Perspective My mom and dad and I had never done anything wrong and then I hear my parents were murdered?! I just didn’t get why it had to be mine. We were just normal people trying to get through life, but then this had to happen. The guy in the window gave me the creeps. I was scared and didn’t know what to believe so I ran as he told me to. I thought I was going to die when the person caught me and tied me to a pole. But for some reason when I saw Prim, I got this vision that we would get out and return to safety. I don’t know how, or what made it happen but my vision came to life, which made me so happy!, but then my emotion changed. The alarm went off and I saw who the person was!! At that moment I was so mad, scared and worried for what would happen next. When I heard about the forest and what was in it I began to get even more frightened in which I can’t explain in words how I felt. I could see how scared Prim was and I knew I had to help her In some way because this was mostly my fault. Then when I remembered the knife that I had brought with me from home, I felt blessed and I had seen the first smile I had seen on Prim. When the people were surrounding Prim and I on the cliff I didn‘t know what to do but one thing. I was scared to do it, but I would have rather died by accident then on purpose, so I jumped. During the time in the air it actually felt really good and I don’t know why but it was really fun. I thought for sure Prim was going to hate me forever but when we were fine she truly seemed happy in a way. While we were taking a break from walking for a while, when we heard the sirens and saw the flashing lights it was a relief, especially when I knew Prim was staying with me. From that day on I knew prim would a would stay best friends forever.

11. Prim’s Past Prim was 6 years old when her parents were murdered and she was taken and made into a slave. Before that, Prim had a fantastic life. Her family use to be poor, but one day they bought a lottery ticket because the government was kicking them out of their house for not paying their bills and they wanted to spend the rest of the money they had on a lottery ticket hoping they would win. They had won. For once in prims life she could have her own room and medical care. One day she heard on the radio that their was a group of people, unidentified and they were scamming people at grocery stores. Her parents were going to the grocery store. Before they left she had told them about the group of people who are scamming people. Her parents nodded, but they didn’t believe her. When they were finished shopping these two people told Prims parents that they had won 2 billion dollars. The parents believed them and signed the contract that they had to sign if they wanted to get the money. The people told them not to read it and they didn’t. That was how it all started. They didn’t read the part where it had said you will pay us $10 000 each month until you die. One month they couldn’t pay them and the very next day they were found dead in the forest and their daughter prim was gone, she had been taken by the people and made as a slave. From that day forward Prim was going to be their slave forever, but then Joey came.

12. Joey’s Past Joey was and is an amazing, mature, helpful person. He wasn’t like other boys when he was younger. He loved sports and boy stuff but he had a passion for baking and dancing. Joey took dancing lessons and he was amazing at it, once the music went on his body automatically started moving, it started to move to the beat and he just couldn’t stop. Every summer he would go camping with his cousins, he loved it. He loved smelling the fresh air and hearing the beautiful sounds. He despised video games and electronics. He always loved his parent and his life. All the time he WANTED to help his parents and do what was best for them. He was so thankful for everyone and everything around him. Until it happened…

13. Joey’s Dad John Joey’s dad came from a wealthy family that only cared for money. They always went for trips around the world and left him with a babysitter. They didn’t care at all. Joey actually liked having them gone and being alone with his nice babysitter. Sometimes she would bring her son over. They always had fun together and they would go out for supper sometimes. She was like a mom to him. John didn`t ever care about money or electronics, he cared for things that that really mattered. He cared for other people, happiness and helping out. He always had peoples backs, even if he didn`t know them. When John met Penelope, he forgot all about the bad things in his life. When he first layed eyes on her he knew he liked her. Whenever she came over when her parents were fighting he would be so happy and he would feel for once that someone really cared. One day when he was twenty years old he asked Penelope to marry him and run away from their past and when she said yes, it was the most happy day of his life. They were happy until the incident haapened

14. Joey’s Mom Penelope Penelope came from an abusive family. They always fought and smashed things and drank. But she was never like them. She had always loved the outdoors and nature with the breeze blowing through her hair. She was polite and nice. She aided people if she saw that they needed help. Every time her parents were fighting she would run to her best friend, joey, and hers tree house that they found in the forest onetime when they were going for a walk together. They would stay their for the night or just for a really long time. Penelope met john at school. She was being bullied when john came up and stood up for her. Later on in life, John asked her to marry him and she said yes. They had one child named Joey as you already know. She had a good life until the day.

15. The Creepy Person The Creepy Person, Ralph he thought he was going to win this kidnapping. This was not his first time believing he was going to win and then lost. He did it when he was younger with his parents. His parents were always nice to him, but when it came to helping around the house Ralph didn’t want to do any work. He always wanted to watch T.V., play video games, and play with friends. So him and his parents would get in a fight and he would think he was going to win, but he would lose. Ralph was always the kid who thought he was the best and nobody mattered as much as him. One day his friends got sick and tired of him telling tem what to do, so they left him. Ralph got mad and started beating up people. His parents couldn’t take all the drama that was happening so they put him in an orphanage. It wasn’t like any ordinary orphanage. It was an orphanage that taught you discipline and how to get adopted fast. Ralph was always getting punishments, and he was tired of it, so he ran away. He had never gone camping so he didn’t know how to take care of himself in the wilderness. That’s how he got the mold and green hair, from outside.
