  2. Goal • Have community members with school faculty and staff involved in school resources and services. • Provide information equity by working for universal literacy, intellectual freedom, and access to print and electronic resources.

  3. Principle 1The librarian promotes broad school and community-based advocacy for the school library program to support student success. • Partnership between school and community members will collaborate to develop the library program for the purpose of advocating student success. • Example: Family Literacy Night • Celebrity Readers

  4. Principle 2The librarian will provide broad access to library resources for students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. • Library will be open before and after school hours. • Provide library access at least 1 day a week during summer vacation months or offer a summer reading program collaboratively with the public library. • Provide training in the use of library resources. • Electronic Resources • Online Services • Campus Web Site • Library Print Resources

Principle 3The librarian is knowledgeable and provides a collection based on ethnically and culturally diverse interests of the school and local community. • Based on the cultural diversity, the librarian provides an appropriate collection and services. • Example: • Dual language collection • Complies with special needs regulations. • Collection reflects multi-cultural and diverse community.

  6. Principle 4The Librarian serves as the public relations representative. • Communicates the library vision, goals, services, and needs to the school community, entities beyond the campus, and to the business community. • Example: • Networking with other campus librarians • Networking with public librarians • Involvement in community programs
