Modus Operandi • Primarily focused on the conservation of wetlands and waterfowl. • Also works to restore previously ruined wetlands. • Secures existing natural wetlands to preserve them. • This is done via replanting forests, restoring watersheds, restoring grasslands and working with landowners.
Why Wetlands? • Absorb water • Controls flooding • Filters water • Sustains many species of wildlife • Sustains the local watertable • Support recreation (hunting, fishing).
As of January 1st 2011, Ducks Unlimited has conserved: • 6,207,732 acres in Canada • 1,831,904 acres in Mexico • 4,377,859 acres in the United States • For a total of 12,417,495 acres in North America
