  1. St Thomas School know their ONIONS! This phrase means ‘to be experienced in or knowledgeable about a subject’. Enjoy our slide show of us planting onion sets and learn how special onions are...

  2. Here is our allotment garden in the spring sunshine.

  3. Mr Milne shows us which end is which. Ancient Egyptians worshipped onions as a symbol of eternal life. Onions were often found inside the body parts of mummies.

  4. Carefully planting the sets as Mr Milne showed us. Rubbing onion on the skin is thought to improve acne. An onion may help remove a wart if you rub a cut piece on the wart once a day until it disappears.

  5. We all joined in and planted the onion sets in rows. If you have been stung by a bee or bitten by a mosquito rubbing onion on the bite can ease the pain. A bit of crushed onion mixed with salt can soothe a burn.
