  3. Mission To promote and foster non-violence by word, deed and as a core value of the Fraternity’s culture and within our African American communities. 3 Committee Report

  4. Goal for 2014-15 • Diminish and, to the degree possible, eliminate all vestiges of violent behavior from Omega culture by implementing the strategies and tactics of the International Violence Prevention Committee.

  5. Objectives for 2014-15 • A demonstrated commitment and active engagement of the Fraternity’s leadership at every level toward the elimination of all forms of violence. • A demonstrated commitment for the time needed for comprehensive and continual re-education of the entire brotherhood on Omega’s principles as they relate to positive and non-violent behavior.

  6. Objectives for 2014-15 • A demonstrative commitment to aggressive, swift, consistent and strict enforcement of all Fraternity policies on non-violence. This includes stringent accountability of all leadership and members for compliance. • Thorough and permanent removal from the Fraternity all elements that are inconsistent with its principles and ideals.

  7. Activities • Participated with the International Committee to develop a draft of duties for the District Violence Prevention Committees. GB approval pending. • District committee members reviewed and provided input into potential education collateral to be used across the fraternity. • District committee members assisted in the development of the IHQ Violence Prevention Strategic Plan. GB approval pending. Policy Initiatives, Risk Avoidance Enforcement Mechanisms, Education Curriculum

  8. Activities • District Committee members worked with International Committee to strengthen the Code of Conduct “violence specific provisions”. • District Committee meetings to finalize education collateral for Corridor sessions. • “A New Day In The Second” violence prevention presentation/discussion was held in Corridor 1 at Gamma Pi on March 6th. This targeted discussion included about 50 invited “owt” brothers as part of the recommended strategic plan.

Comments/Recommendations • Schedule “A New Day In The Second” Corridor meetings across the District for the Violence Prevention committee. • Educate new members and re-educate seasoned members, on a violence-free Omega. • Allocate time at all District meetings for continual membership education.

  16. Comments/Recommendations • Provide the fiscal resources required to implement both violence prevention educational and anti-violence enforcement efforts. • Pilot small-scale “OWT Forums” to reach and re-educate.
