  1. The Frightened Witch “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1

  2. The Facts, Please! • When witches are mentioned, some people think of black cats, broomsticks, and pointed hats. Others think of people who cast magic spells. Today, those who practice demonology and satanic worship call some of their leaders witches. In the Bible, if the term witches is used, it refers to sorcerers or mediums.

  3. Mediums are people who claim they can tell the future by communicating with the spirits of dead people. The Bible gives us no indication that we can talk with people who have died. Those who claim they do this are either fooling people by some kind of tricks, or they are performing acts under the power of demons. God told the Israelites to have nothing to do with fortune-tellers, black magic, witches, wizards, or sorcerers. In Exodus 22:18, God ordered witches (sorcerers) to be put to death. More Facts, Please!

  4. More Facts, Please! • King Saul obeyed that command at one time and tried to ban all the sorcerers from the land of Israel. Somehow, he missed at least one. Then there came a time when he wanted to talk with a sorcerer. Evidently, although he had obeyed God’s command to ban witches, he still believed in witchcraft in his heart.
