Targets for next year Overall reduction of 10% in consequential train accidents. Action plan to achieve the target • 1. Monitoring of action plan targets fixed • by various departments. • 2. Conducting super checks and Safety Audit inspection • and point out the deficiencies to the concerned departments. • 3. Regular inspections, foot plate and night inspections. • 4. Surprise and ambush checks. • Organising safety seminars, safety drives, special drives, • nukkar natak etc. • 6. Use of print and electronic media to educate the road users.
Initiatives taken during 07-08 • Procurement of illuminating flare signal (fusees) stopped over N. Rly thus saving substantial revenue expenditure. • Discrepancy in slot vis-a-vis taking off signal at TKD was • investigated and a special drive to check meggering of S&T • cables at regular interval was launched to avoid short • circuiting of conductors of signalling cable. • Starter signal of PF No.7 at NDLS was got shifted to avoid • parallax to drivers of trains to avoid derailments on this • account. • Instruction issued by Board regarding revamping of Safety • organisation was got implemented on N. Rly by posting • Sr. DSO from multi-disciplines and repatriating the previous • Sr. DSO from traffic streams to Sr. DOM / DOM (Safety) to • improve traffic safety on two divisions.
5. The progress of SRSF works and Safety Action • Plan targets of various departments were monitored. • Implementation of RSRC and HLDMC recommendations • was monitored as only 8 & 3 recommendation pending as • on 31/3/08 for implementation against 9 & 12 as on 31/3/07 • respectively. • 7. 6 no. of Safety Audit inspection were conducted. • Master correction slip no.1 of 2008 was got issued for gate • working instructions to improve smooth passage of road • traffic across manned LC gates.
Order was got issued for releasing of rakes at stations • where gradient is more than 1 in 400 to avoid rolling down • of rakes into block section. • Administrative approval for interlocking of 130 no. of gates • was taken from the G.M. • D&AR cases got finalised i.e. 5 no. of D&AR pending as on • 31/3/08 against 18 no. as on 31/3/07. • Lack of basic infrastructure at L-xing gates was pointed • out. • Master correction slip was got issued for verification of • complete arrival of trains at stations provided with BPAC.
