Carter • He is 14 years old and is an Egyptian magician • Hosted the war god, Horus • Sister named Sadie • Both parents are dead and his dad became Osiris, the god of the dead • Him, his sister, his uncle, and his magicians in training all live in Brooklyn • Likes to be heroic and ends up getting in a lot of trouble when he does this • Has dark skin and brown hair. • Has a crush on Zia

Sadie • Is about to turn 13 and also is an Egyptian magician • Has a crush on one of the trainees named Walt • Lived in England with her grandparents until she found out she was a magician • Still misses all the things she could do when she wasn’t saving the world from a big snake, Apophis, the god of Chaos • She has blond hair and blue eyes • Was hostof Isis, the goddess of magic • Hates that she can’t remember anything about her mom

Walt • Is a 14 year old trainee at the Brooklyn house • Has a crush on Sadie • Has a curse on him because of his ancestor, Akhenaton and is to be dead by the age of about 17 if not earlier • Had been getting help from Jaz, another trainee who specialized in healing to try and rid of his curse • Specializes in charm making • Always wears shorts, has dark skin, a buzz cut, and always wears his amulets around his neck

Zia • In Red Pyramid had a shabti (person made out of clay) play as her when she was hidden and has the memories from the shabti • Was hidden by Iskandar in her home town that was destroyed by Apophis • Both parents were killed in the attack • Has black hair and amber colored eyes • Hosted Nephthys, goddess of water • Is a fire elementalist • Has mixed feelings about the Kanes

  6. Setting • Most of the book takes place in Brooklyn, New York present time • Mostly cold, windy March days • Brooklyn house has 5 stories including a training center for their trainees • Brooklyn house is for magicians only so humans only see an old warehouse when they look at it

  7. Summary Sadie and Carter Kane are trying to save the world from Apophis. They live with their trainees that will fight with them but they need the house of life (All the other magicians) to fight with them. But they hate the Kanes because they let the gods free in the world. Carter has been searching for clues to find Zia and he might just get his chance to. They need to awaken the sun god Ra to help them overcome Apophis. While people are choosing sides, Kanes vs. magicians, Apophis is growing stronger. This book has so many twists and turns that you won’t want to put this book down.
