Symposium Theme • DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRICITY INFRASTRUCTURE IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA • The aim of the symposium is to provide a unique forum for the exchange of ideas and future vision the development of the electrical systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Who should attend Symposium is aimed at: • Transmission • Distribution • Generation owners • System operators • Suppliers & Designers • Research laboratories & universities
Committees Participating • Leading Study Committee C6 • Supporting Study Committees B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, C1, C2, C5 • IEC Technical Committees 8/SC8A, 82, 115 & 122 • AFSEC TC 8 & 82
CIGRE- IEC Interaction • SC B2 and IEC TC 82 & SC 8A will all be hosting meetings in Cape Town prior to the symposium • Symposium held over 4 days – Stellenbosch (60km from Cape Town) • Consist of Tutorials, presentation of technical papers and Technical Tours including a visit to Hermanus (possibility for whale watching)
Location of Meetings • 22nd -25th Cape Town • 26th – 20th Stellenbosch • Venues for the above meetings are being finalised.

Practical Information • Getting to Cape Town • Almost all countries linked by direct flights to Johannesburg or Cape Town • Easy access from airports to hotels via taxi • All bookings will be done via the CIGRE SA National committee • Weather • Spring – temperatures of between 220 -280celsius can be expected with occasional light showers
