  1. Welcome!We appreciate your participation in our study. This part of the study will be conducted on the computer. The tasks require your careful attention. Before the experiment, please now get settled in your chair and align yourself directly in front of the computer. If you have a backpack or bulky coat with you, please store it to the side so that it doesn’t get in your way. If, at any point during the experiment, you need clarification of exactly what you are supposed to do, please do not hesitate to ask the experimenter. Please press “c” to continue.

  2. InstructionsPlease read carefully! In this study, we are interested in how people solve math problems. On each of the following trials, a matrix with 9 three-digit numbers will be displayed on the screen. Among them, there are two numbers that add up to 10. Your task is to identify the two numbers, and press their corresponding keys on the NUMBER PAD. Please press “c” to continue.

  3. InstructionsPlease read carefully! Before the main trials, there are some practice trails. You will see 9 three-digit numbers in each grid of a 3*3 matrix. Among the 9 numbers, two of them add up to 10. Please identify these 2 numbers and press their corresponding keys on the NUMBER PAD. This task requires both accuracy and speed. Please respond as accurate and as fast as possible. Please press “c” to continue.

For each pair of numbers identified correctly, you will received $ XX after the experiment. But please keep in mind that the task requires both ACCURACY and SPEED.
