  4. Software licensing models:Freeware/shareware Advantages for; Individuals- Doesn’t cost anything Educational Institutions- gives schools the chance to have different types of software for free. Might not be able to afford. Disadvantages for; Individuals- Non-free versions usually have more options and tasks. Educational Institutions- Schools may not like to use them but cant afford other software. DEFINITION: Freeware and shareware are both free. Whereas Microsoft you would have to pay for. You don’t have to pay for these.

  5. Trial ware Advantages for; Individuals- you get to experience the software before buying it. Educational Institutions- you can try out the software to see if it is adequate enough for what you need it for. If its not good enough then you wont waste a lot of money by buying it. Disadvantages for; Individuals- Limited features and has no support. Can be difficult to install then uninstall. Educational Institutions- Limited features and has no support. Can be difficult to install then uninstall. DEFINITION: Is the trial or use of software for a short period of time to allow you to try it before buying it.

  6. Single license Advantages for; Individuals- you wont have to pay more for others because there is only single user access. Educational Institutions- its good if teachers wanted some software and didn’t want the students to get them. Disadvantages for; Individuals- Cant share with others. Educational Institutions- there are lots of people in schools and universities who would use some software and single licenses would be very expensive for educational institutions to get for everybody. DEFINITION: A single license for a single user. This means only one user is able to use this software.

Educational Institutions- Saves a lot of money when you could be paying almost double if you were to get single user licenses for everyone. Disadvantages for; Individuals- Everyone is connected to the same software. Educational Institutions- Everyone is connected to the same software. DEFINITION: Multiple copies of software for multiple machines.

  8. Concurrent Licensing Advantages for; Individuals- There arnt any individual advantages Educational Institutions- you can buy as many as you need for a cheaper price. Disadvantages for; Individuals- Everyone is connected to the same software. Educational Institutions- Everyone is connected to the same software. DEFINITION: Depending on how many Computers you need to have the software on.
